Düsseldorf has 26 museums and more than 100 galleries to offer its visitors. These include such famous institutions as the "Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen" (Art Collection Northrhine-Westphalia, the "Museum Kunstpalast" and the "NRW-Forum" (Northrhine-Westphalia Forum for Culture and Business).
With several shopping districts, Düsseldorf is home to the whole bandwidth of an exciting shopping city. The traditional shopping venues, such as the "Kö", the Old Town and Schadowstrasse, are today complemented by unconventional and young centres of fashion in such districts as Nord-Flingern and Unterbilk.
Since the rock band Toten Hosen dedicated their song "Altbierlied" (dark beer song) to Düsseldorf's pubs and bars, "the longest bar in the world" has become famous far beyond Düsseldorf. More than 250 pubs, restaurants and bars line the streets of theOldTown. Quaint breweries, trendy restaurants or student pubs with a friendly atmosphere - go for it and explore the variety!

This year, the huge funfair city will be erected at a unique and picturesque location on the Oberkassel Rhine meadows for the 121st time. On a fairground covering 165,000 sqm, attraction operators from Germany and abroad offer rides providing either nostalgia or the latest thrills.
Every year, on the Sunday before the fair officially opens, members of the Marksmen's Club march through the Old Town. The Historic Procession is another key attraction and is one of the largest in Germany, with more than 3,000 uniformed marksmen, marching bands, and teams of horses and carriages.

At 11.11 a.m. the carnival season kicks off in the Rhineland! Like every year, on 11 November the revellers will be on the loose. Traditionally, the carnival season is ushered in with the awakening of the "King of the Fools", or Hoppeditz.
