Johann Wolfgang Goethe was born here on 28th August 1749 "when the clock struck twelve", and grew up here with his sister Cornelia. Discover the house where Goethe was born, floor by floor. In the exhibition on the 3rd floor, you will also find a chronicle of the house and its inhabitants.

The Main Tower on the Neue Mainzer Straße with its height of approximately 200 m, is only Frankfurt's 4th tallest skyscraper, yet it has two unique highlights to offer, which are as yet unparalleled: it is the first skyscraper that is accessible to the public (with viewing platform and restaurant) and it is home to Europe's highest radio and television studio. On the 53rd floor, you can enjoy a meal in Frankfurt's highest restaurant (52 seats and 30 bar stools)

The Dippemess on the fairground on Ratsweg is regarded as the number one folk festival in the Rhine-Main region. Nowhere else is the number of visitors higher. From the marquee to exciting rides and food stalls, there is something for the whole family. In spring, the focus is on guests who love fast-paced fun. Every year around this time, the motto is: Higher! Faster! Further!

In May, Frankfurt's Roßmarkt again casts the spotlight on the 7 best known herbs of the Hessen region. 49 chefs compete against one another and entice the public's palates with their own secret recipes (ticket for the tasting required). Renowned artistes add their own spice to these culinary evenings: cabaret, a capella, pop songs or drag shows - the programme is as fresh and diverse as the herbs!
1 to 4 August 2025
The Mainfest starts on Friday with live music on the Römerberg. A representative of the city council will open the festival from the Fountain of Justice on the Römerberg, which has been converted into a wine fountain. The classic folk festival also appeals to children and young people with children's carousels, fairground rides, games, raffles and shooting galleries, making it the only city centre festival for the whole family. The traditional highlight, a firework display of superlatives, closes the festival on the following Monday.

Cider culture has long been an important part of this city's way of life. Frankfurt's inhabitants and visitors therefore celebrate their "national beverage" with their own Cider Festival and a colourful programme of performances. Folk music and performances in the local dialect ensure a great atmosphere.

Frankfurt's spectacular festival of arts and culture
Every year, the city of Frankfurt pays tribute to the museums along the river with the Museum Embankment Festival (Museumsuferfest), on the last weekend of August. It is one of the largest and most spectacular arts and culture festivals in Europe.

The Dippemess Fair on the Festplatz am Ratsweg is the number one funfair in the Rhine-Main region. Nowhere are there higher visitor numbers. From the main Festival Marquee to exciting rides and catering stalls, there are offerings for all the family. The autumn fair is aimed at visitors who prefer a cosy and convivial atmosphere to grandiose spectacle.
